Football is the world’s number one sport internationally. There are more countries signed up to the governing body of football, FIFA [208], than there are belonging to the United Nations [192]. Of the 208 countries, it unites over 265 million players across age, gender, race and creed.
And that’s just the active players, the World Cup in 2006 attracted more than double the global TV audience of any other sporting event that year, watched by an average live audience of 284 million people in 53 countries, with more than 600 million people tuning in.
In England, football is played by more than  adults and children, with 125,000 teams competing in over 1,700 affiliated leagues.
So, football impacts across the board, from those that play at the highest level, to those that watch their beloved team week in week out. Football is everywhere! This is the arena in which  Ambassadors In Sport are involved. Our vision is to be the ‘premier Christian agent of transformation in the football community, serving with  excellence in all levels of football involvement.’
Football is all about dreams; pulling on your team shirt, scoring that winning goal in a cup final or grabbing victory to win a league title. But our dreams go much further; seeing the lives of individuals and communities positively changed and transformed through football, the sport of football is so pervasive in our society, we  believe that transformation through football will bring about transformation in community.
Integral to this transformation is the church, which is strategically placed within these communities. With a huge volunteer base at its disposal it has an amazing heritage with its role in the development of football.
AIS is involved in several exciting projects from grass roots to adults. Soccer schools, leagues and tournaments, schools work, international playing and coaching tours and coaching clinics all play a part in our work involving young people, young offenders, the homeless and the marginalised.
